Cicada - Branding

Cicada Gardens

Cicadas (/sɪˈkɑːdə/ or /sɪˈkeɪdə/)

In the United States the calls of the cicadas have become intertwined with the southeast. The cicada have been cited in folklore as a use for medicine, currency and a symbol for rebirth of nature. Their hibernation for years in the ground and sprouting anew in a fantastic display of nature’s wonder has amazed, confounded and inspired southerners for centuries.

Their emergence from the soil, like budding seeds that rise up through the earth, has obvious connections to farming and cultivation.

Come, dear Cicada, chirp to all the grove,
The Nymphs and Pan, a new responsive Strain;
That I, in the noontide sleep, may steal from love,
Reclined beneath the dark o’erspreading plane.
Meleager of Gadara (greek poet – 1st century BC)

In the South, the calling songs of the cicadas have become synonymous with newness: the first warm nights of spring, the scent of budding dogwood and magnolia flowers, the long-awaited gift of longer days. At Cicada Gardens, we seek to capture this sensation of warmth and rebirth through our strains of cannabis products. As the cicada is more than just an insect, so too our leaves are more than just plants.

Inspired by the cicada’s lifecycle, we are intentional about how long we grow our crop. Cicadas lie dormant underground for 17 years, emerging for a brief, vibrant period to fulfill their destinies. Similarly, we nurture our leaves to reach their highest potency before harvesting and packaging them in eco-friendly containers so you can fulfill yours – even if that’s just relaxing on the porch, reconnecting with nature and those you love, listening to the calls of the cicadas and knowing that you’re home.
